Projection: need to automatically qualify

North Florida’s résumé makes clear why an at-large berth is unlikely: brutal road losses at Florida, Tennessee, Gonzaga, Miami and Dayton and neutral setbacks at Southern Miss and Prairie View have overwhelmed a schedule that otherwise contains only modest scalps. The roster has shown it can win against lower-tier opposition with road victories at North Alabama and West Georgia and home wins over Bellarmine, East Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast, but those results do little to erase damaging defeats and the team’s inability to solve conference rivals like Lipscomb and Jacksonville in either venue. With sparse success away from quality opponents, no signature neutral-site triumphs, and ugly losses that will stick with a committee, the realistic path to the NCAA tournament runs through winning the Atlantic Sun tournament.
